The welcome programme and services can change due to Covid19. We will update this page, if there are any changes to the planned programme.
We recommend that you bring masks as protection against covid19
Please be aware you need to wear masks when using public transport in Denmark
Official arrival days at AAU Esbjerg are from August 20 to August 27. If you have booked accommodation via our accommodation office, please contact Peter Kringhøj at email@example.com or at +45 9940 7672 to make arrangements for moving in.
Due to Covid19 we do not have a pick-up service. You have to go to the address of the accommodation yourself and we will meet you there. We will send you a mail with the housing contract with address before your arrival. You must call Peter Kringhøj when you have arrived at your address and we will meet you there as soon as possible. Our opening hours are Monday to Friday 8.00-17.00.
Arrival outside opening hours
If you arrive outside opening hours, the cheapest way of staying overnight, is at the “Danhostel” Esbjerg. There are also several hotels available near the train station.
We have cancelled our regular information meetings, which we normally hold every weekkday at 11.00. You will instead be informed about most important things upon arrival and you can book an appointment with either the accommodation office or the international student counsellor if needed. August 28 at 9, we have arranged a welcome day for all International students.We will meet in room c1.119 and you will meet all your fellow international students. You will receive information about:
- Life as a student in Denmark
- How to find and use the doctor
- How to register for residence permit (only EU residents, as non-EU already have student visa)
- Introduction to Danish culture by a current international student
- How to use the library
- Danish language courses
After the official programme at campus we will take you on a tour in the city center.
WELCOME TO INFORMATION DAY - MONDAY, AUGUST 31, 2020 9.30
Dear new students!
We look forward to welcoming you to a day filled with important knowledge and information about your first year of study at Aalborg University Esbjerg.
We meet in the entrance hall at AAU Esbjerg, Niels Bohrs vej 8. You will meet your new fellow students and receive your student card. Afterwards there will be presentations by your program secretary, the Student Grants Office (SU) and your student counsellor. We serve lunch in the cafeteria after which the afternoon offers teambuilding activities.

WELCOME TO YOUR FIRST DAY OF STUDY- TUeSDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, 2020 9.00
Dear new students!
Welcome to your first semester at Aalborg University Esbjerg. We look forward to welcoming you to a study environment known for creativity and academic immersion.
The day starts in the cafeteria where the Student Society hosts morning coffee. Your tutors will welcome you and hand out a program for the day. The program includes a group overview and names of your fellow students.
You will find semester plans, book lists and much more on the website of the first study year.
9.50-10.50: Official welcome
Campus manager Anders Schmidt Kristensen and Dean Mogens Rysholt Poulsen will officially welcome you to Aalborg University Esbjerg.
11.00-12.00: Presentation of study programmes
Your tutors will accompany you to the introduction of your study programme. You will meet your instructors and get a closer introduction to subjects, projects and programme structure.
12.00-13.00: LUNCH IN THE CAFETERIA
13.00-16.00: Social activities
Your tutors have planned activities where you will get to know each other and the campus.
Travelling to Esbjerg
From Billund Airport to Esbjerg
Bus no 944X or 144 from Billund to Esbjerg. Further information at Billund airport´s webpage.
The fare is approx. DKK 82,00, and the ticket can be purchased when getting on the bus (cash only)
from Copenhagen to esbjerg
The train from the airport to Esbjerg departs almost every hour. Tickets can be purchased in the International Terminal at the airport or online at the Danish railroad´s webpage.
From Esbjerg station to the university
Bus no. 11 takes you directly to the university and bus no. 1A, 2A, 3B and 4B stop nearby the university. The bus staion is right next to the train station (yellow buses). Taxies are also available right outside the station.
